 | 12:28 pm - wholesale orders make me happy. Here's Little Name's CD on the shelves at Apple Crumble Records in Tokyo. It looks like Toshiko packaged them with the little Sleepy Records stickers I sent her:

And just because Toshiko's shop is so adorable:

It makes me want to open my own sleepy little mouse shop (warning: another plot forming)...

 | 09:38 pm Dear Miss Acacia Sears,
I would like to report that you are listed as one of Curve Magazine's "100 Sexiest Artists" with the following blurb:
"you've got to love a girl named for a tree, but there's a lot more to adore about this melodic, hypnotic, self-taught Baltimore musician. Her debut album, Dialtones, offers hints of ani difranco and lisa loeb, only better. (sleepyrecords.com)"
We have a copy of it, I guess Dave will bring it to you on Tuesday.
Love, Ann (who is patting herself on the back for thinking of sending a cd to them)

 | 05:55 pm Pile of Craft went overwhelmingly well, with a huge huge turnout! We were all over the moon about what an amazing success it was. Even though we had really good press coverage (a segment on fox 45 news, articles in the City Paper and Baltimore Sun, mentions on WYPR, etc.), we still had no idea it would be as big as it was.

 | 04:01 pm Things I Must Do Before Pile of Craft:
- stuff programs with Ottobar flyers - stop listening to The Humpty Dance - stop subjecting tomorrow's shoppers to this week's Kathleen Hanna obsession by using a whole le tigre album in playlists - inflate monkeys - charge camera battery - discover miracle facial treatment to get rid of crazy nervous breakout - get my damn picture taken, ugh. - set up at 2460 space
|
June 20th, 2007
 | 02:00 pm - Don't forget. Or I will be sad.

Also, there will be a Pile of Craft after party at the Ottobar. Crafty drink specials from 6:00 to 9:00!

 | 06:09 pm - Sponsors! The Charm City Craft Mafia is looking for last minute sponsors who can contribute as little as $25 in exchange for advertising in the Pile of Craft event program. The event is on June 23rd. We're also open to advertising exchanges (your logo in our program and on our site in exchange for a mention in your email lists, logo in your next event's promo stuff, or something like that.) We're especially interested in local Baltimore businesses and organizations.
So far, I think we've got Bust, Etsy, and I think maybe the roller girls. Oh, and Red Emma's, obviously.
If anyone knows a business that might be interested, please let me know and I'll email you a sponsorship package.

 | 12:07 am - Little Name Lee's master CD came in the mail today. It was such a beautiful sunny day, and I thought it would be perfect to listen to in the car. I put the CD in and said to Dave. "Are you ready? This is going to be an historic moment."
The second "For The Attention Of" started playing, I realized that this album has the potential to be a really big deal.
By the time we got to "Tracy and I" my eyes were filled with tears.
I can't even begin to describe how beautiful this album is and how special it is to me.

 | 08:31 am - Record Release Party/Label Launch Party and Pile of Craft I hope people are planning to come to Cacie's record release party (The Perk Version) on Saturday. I also decided this morning that since I never really had one back in September, I'm going to totally hijack the event and make it the Sleepy Records (Re)Launch Party as well. The label has gone further than I ever imagined it would this time last year and I think it's time for a little celebration.
(Also, if my tax refund is for real, financial stability has been restored to Sleepy Records! Hooray!)
I also wanted to announce that the Charm City Craft Mafia is now accepting applications for our indie craft fair this summer, Pile of Craft. Come or we'll break your knees.

 | 09:38 pm - another bloggy move I've wanted to do a design/indie shopping blog for a few years now, but always felt a little bad about a project dedicated mostly to things I want to buy. But whatever, it's fun! So I'll be moving over to my new typepad blog, Pocket Mouse (one of Stargirl's names in Stargirl and a reference to Little Mouse Vintage too).
I'll probably still post some Sleepy updates here, but please add the Pocket Mouse feed to your friends list so you can read about cute things:
pocketmouseblog
Don't forget that you should leave comments on the actual blog and not the livejournal page (please please please leave comments!)

 | 01:24 pm - press go to do some more We're going to this tonight at the Visionary:
Friday • March 9 • 7PM: Circuit Bending Workshop with Beatrix*JAR The Minneapolis-based sound-art duo, Beatrix*JAR, pays a special visit to AVAM to reveal the secrets of circuit-bending: the art of coaxing new and surprising sounds out of recycled battery-powered toys. Your old "Speak & Spell" never sounded so good! In this hands-on workshop, rework the innards of battery-powered sound-making toy(s) or small keyboards and bend the sound with the force of your will and creativity and a little solder. Followed by an improvised performance. Bring a battery-powered sound-making toy(s). Bring a date. Check out www.beatrixjar.com. Call 410.244.1900 to sign up. $15 members; $25 non-members.
I'll be sure to post the results of butchering my Barbie toy here in mp3 form.
There was a pretty productive Mafia meeting this week. It looks like the craft fair is going to be June 23rd at the 2640 space at St. John's (corner of St. Paul) and sponsored by Red Emma's and Monozine.

 | 10:12 pm - self-portraits I finally got my camera back last week, so I tried to do some self-portrait-y pictures this weekend. These certainly aren't beautiful, it's just plain ol' me, but there's something honest about them that I really like.
